Polynomials in the Real World
A question frequently asked in math classes across the country is When
are we actually going to use this in the real world. In answer to this question,
polynomials are used in many different occupational situations. Most often found
in scientific and mathematical situations, knowing your way around polynomials
will help you around certain jobs.

One of the many jobs mentioned above which require knowledge in the
field of polynomials is computer programming jobs and operating jobs in factory
jobs. They need polynomials to shape different parts of whatever the factory is
producing, and use different pieces of machinery from engineers. The machinery
often makes this job dangerous, and the salary of these workers can range from
$28,000 to $50,000 a year. Along with this job, you are also constantly
monitoring computer readouts to make sure all of the pieces you are making are
accurately formed.

Being an economist is another option for an occupation if you are looking
for a job in which you can use polynomials. This may seem like an unusual job to
use polynomials in, but economists are waist-deep in math. Analyzing data and
creating mathematical models, they are surrounded by problems only solved
through extensive math processes. One of economists jobs are to interpret and
prophesize market trends. They are required to have and extensive history with
math, including algebra, geometry, calculus and statistics. An economists
average yearly salary is about $91,860 per year.

Another couple interesting and unique jobs that require some knowledge
of polynomials are forestry, conservation, and logging workers. Working in
unison, their main job is to maintain the forests. Even the loggers take part in
this, and work hard to sustain the environments they are constantly taking from.
Fighting the pests, planting new trees, and working to control erosion are some
of the many jobs these occupations require, and the constant exposure to the
outside weather adds to the danger and demand of the job. This salary can
range from $23,000 to $28,000 per year.
