Anweshas 2013-2014 Reflections

1. What is something we did this year that you think you will remember for the
rest of your life?
I will remember this year because it is the year I proved myself. I stepped
up to the plate and hit the ball without a strike. I may not have hit that
home run but I have improved a lot. I am no longer that girl who does not
know where she belongs.
2. What is something you accomplished this year that you are proud of?
I accomplished playing sports with the boys and proving that I am a good
player. Whenever I can I show them that I am one of the first picks and I
am tougher than some of them. There are always going to be the people
that do not think I am worth it but that is okay.
3. What was the nicest thing someone in our class did for you this year?
I think that Sydney, Lucie, and Nellie have never stopped being nice to me.
They support me whenever they can. When I get hurt, they rush to me to
see if I am okay. When my team loses they find some funny excuses to
bring my spirits up. They create and environment that makes me feel good
about myself. They are probably some of the best friends I can ever get.
4. What was the most challenging part of this year for you?
The most challenging part of this year was probably just expressing my
feelings. I had trouble when people would deliberately hurt me. Sometimes
the teacher would not understand it was deliberate. I could not always keep
my feelings intact. Sometimes people would treat me like a dog. They would
get into a fight that I wouldnt understand and then I would come back and
follow them around and not realize that they are using me. I just needed to
understand that there are always going to be those people who just are not
nice and never will be to me.
5. Where is your favorite place in our classroom (or school)? Why?
My favorite place is a little corner in the Discovery Rockets room. It was the
Rockets room back when I started. I was shy when I started and just would
stay in that corner. I would participate when I needed, but mostly I stuck to
myself. I did not understand how to make new friends after the friends I
had just parted. That little corner just brings back memories to the girl I
used to be.

6. If you could change one thing that happened this year, what would it be?
I would have changed the way I react to things. Even when I am frustrated
I should not create a physical response. I wish that I could control it. I
would also not hang out with that person in the first place. I need to make
sure the teacher knows what is happening.

7. What are three things you did this year to help your classmates?
I have tried to step up as a good leader. I am more into letting other people
talk before me. I have just completely avoided things that are none of my
business. I did not want to become a middleman making everyone dislike
me. I have been more willing to help. Sometimes I would not help people
who needed it. Now I try to help whenever I can.

8. What are the three most important things you learned this year?
I learned to just be myself. No matter what happens just being myself will
help. I have to stay true to myself. I cannot let people always find a way to
take advantage of me. I also learned to participate to a point where I still
am letting other people participate just as much. I have tried not to
interrupt the teacher. I have learned that in science when you are reviewing
you are learning things every time. Science is the basis to the universe. It
provides factual ideas to the fundamental elements of our world.
9. What is something that was hard for you at the start of the year, but is easy
now?
Maintaining a good friendship used to be really hard for me. A lot of people
would be on and off. Now, I just have let myself shine through and those
who have accepted me are the ones who truly are my friends. There are
people who still do try to take advantage of me, but it does not matter. I am
who I am. There will never be a time when absolutely everyone likes you
and thinks you are cool no matter what.
10. In what area do you feel you made your biggest improvements?
I feel like I have made the biggest improvements in reading comprehension.
I am able to really remember the key information and draw good
conclusions based on the different elements of the writing. I am now more
comfortable. I am able to study with pride instead of worrying.
11. What is your favorite part of the day in our class? Why?
My favorite parts of the day are Math and Science. They are my comfort
zones. I have always been good at them and they really help me express
my feelings. Also they are places where I feel like I am learning everyday.

12. What is something you taught your teacher or classmates this year?
I taught them that I am not who I sometimes seem like. I know I have
things to learn. I understand when I should pitch in and help and when I
should not. I am not that bossy know-it-all that people think I am. I am not
that little weak kid. I have proved that I am not someone to be messed
with. My size means nothing to me. Just because I am small it does not
mean I am a dorky kid either.
13. Of the books you read this year, which was your favorite? Why?
My favorite book that I read this year was Risked. It is an action packed
book with lots of twists and turns. It is the sixth book in The Missing series.
Risked takes you on a ride of emotional departures and historical grieving
happenings. It tells you about the Romanovs and the cruelty directed
towards them.
I really enjoyed Peak by Roland Smith. I loved the way he had loyalty to his
friends and family. He sacrificed his own record to let Sun-Jo have it
instead. He created a way to make everyone who became closest to him be
happy. He even found a way to accept his new step-dad. He created the life
he always needed.
14. What was the best piece of writing that you did this year? Why do you
think it is your best?
The best piece of writing that I did was my Child Obesity essay. I really
expressed my thoughts in it. I added lots of dimension to it. I created a
world of my writing that some of my writing just does not create. It was
different compared to everything else I wrote. I could really feel it come to
me without needing much thought. The writing had just flown into me.
15. What person at our school has made the biggest impact in your life
this year? Why?
The whole class made a huge impact on my live. Some taught me that I am
who I am. They showed me that it is the best I can be. Others taught me
that no matter what being smart is a good thing until you make an
argument out of everything. Then people will always try to prove you
wrong.
16. What is something the teacher could have done to make this year
better?
I think if the teacher understood my circumstances better they would
understand where I am coming from. Sometimes they did no see what they
should have seen. I do not like it when I am not appreciated. Some things
that I do, if it was another person they would get better results. I feel like
some teachers think I am a braggart and a know-it-all. At times I even feel
like some teachers are always on my case.
17. What are six adjectives that best describe this school year?
My first word is fresh. It changed in so many ways making me look at life
differently. My second word is accepting. People were much more willing to
accept me for who I am this year. The next word is persevering. I really had
to get back up after I was knocked down. My next word is kind. People like
Lucie, Nellie, and Sydney always watched my back and understood the
circumstances. My sixth word is creative. I was able to find out new things I
was almost able to become a different person.
18. Knowing what you know now, if you could write a letter to yourself
that would travel back in time so that you would receive it at the start of the
school year, what advice would you give your younger self?
Make sure to listen to the teacher. Be comfortable in who you are. Do not
let other people who are not nice bring you down. Just be the best you can
possibly be. Things can easily change for the better. You are still young.
Just live life in happiness.
19. When you consider the rest of your life, what percentage of what you
learned this year do you think will be useful to you? Explain.
100%. Everything I learned was important. I was able to apply them in so
many ways. They will probably just stick in my head. I just had a fresh start
this year.

20. What advice would you give students who will be in this class next
year?
Work your hardest and try your best. Do not let yourself get caught up in
the midst of trying to be someone else. Let yourself be who you are. Do not
let anyone change you. You create who you are.
