$) *ntroduction . mins
As students if anyone nows what symmetry is. Also introduce other
#ocabulary such as mirror ima"e$ reflection$ line of symmetry. (ae
connection to how it is similar to the )flip* transformation to help
understandin". (odel symmetry with a piece of paper.
&) Development /. mins
+raw shapes on the board or use smartboard with a document of shapes.
+raw an e,ample of where a line of symmetry would be on the shape. As
for different students to come up and draw lines of symmetry on the rest of
the shapes. -,plain to students the acti#ities of worsheet and demonstrate
the cuttin" folded paper acti#ity.
%) %onsolidation and 0ractice 12 mins
Students will complete symmetry worsheet where they must identify which
shapes are symmetrical or not.
.et students to tae a piece of paper and fold it in half. /ut a shape out of
the folded side. 'hen opened the shape will ha#e a line of symmetry and
the two sides will be identical.
D) %losure . mins
0rin" class to floor and ha#e discussion on what has been learnt$ and show
the different cut out shapes.
