Section B
What is it that I expect my student to learn?
CVC word building, phonological awareness of rhymes like cat, sat, bat etc.
How will I know when they have learned it? Observational Assessment of independent use
of manipulatives
How will I respond when they don't learn? I will try other methods and present the concept
by other means like utilizing sand writing or movement
How will I respond when they already know it? I will expand the lesson to the next step like
CVVC words
What did you learn about your learner that is important for designing lessons for them?
The student is very eager to learn to read by himself because he is read to in the home on a
regular basis.
What did you learn about yourself as a teacher? How much I enjoy teaching literacy, I have
really come to the conclusion that even if I have to sub or work as an EA I would like to
return to the Elementary grades. Being a Pre-K teacher is rewarding but I really miss
teaching more advanced concepts and of course having my students all day. I have 40
students total but each class is only 3 hours.
