TRANSCEND: Nine Steps to Living Well

Forever

In 2004, Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman, MD, published Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live
Forever. Their groundbreaking book marshaled thousands of scientific studies to make the case that new developments in medicine and
technology will allow us to radically extend our life expectancies and slow down the aging process. Soon, our notion of what it means
to be a 55-year-old will be as outdated as an eight-track tape player.
TRANSCEND: Nine Steps to Living Well Forever presents a practical, enjoyable program so that readers can live long enough (and
remain healthy long enough) to take full advantage of the biotech and nanotech advances that have already begun and will be occurring
at an accelerating pace during the years ahead.

To help readers remember the nine key components of the program, Ray and Terry have arranged them into a mnemonic:
Talk with your doctor
Relaxation
Assessment
Nutrition
Supplements
Calorie reduction
Exercise
New technologies
Detoxification
This easy-to-follow program will help readers transcend the boundaries of our genetic legacy and live long enough to live forever.

About

RAY KURZWEIL

Ray Kurzweil has been described as "the restless genius" by the Wall Street Journal, and "the ultimate thinking machine" by Forbes.
Inc. magazine ranked him #8 among entrepreneurs in the United States, calling him the "rightful heir to Thomas Edison," and PBS
included Ray as one of 16 "revolutionaries who made America," along with other inventors of the past two centuries. As one of the
leading inventors of our time, Ray was the principal developer of the first CCD flat-bed scanner, the first omni-font optical character
recognition, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind, the first text-to-speech synthesizer, the first music synthesizer
capable of recreating the grand piano and other orchestral instruments, and the first commercially marketed large-vocabulary speech
recognition. Ray's web site Kurzweil AI.net has over one million readers. Among Ray's many honors, he is the recipient of the
$500,000 MIT-Lemelson Prize, the world's largest for innovation. In 1999, he received the National Medal of Technology, the nation's
highest honor in technology, from President Clinton in a White House ceremony. And in 2002, he was inducted into the National
Inventor's Hall of Fame, established by the US Patent Office. He has received sixteen honorary Doctorates and honors from three U.S.
presidents.
Ray has written five books, four of which have been national best sellers. The Age of Spiritual Machines has been translated into 9
languages and was the #1 best selling book on Amazon in science. Ray's recent book, The Singularity is Near, was a New York Times
best seller, and has been the #1 book on Amazon in both science and philosophy. His newest book, TRANSCEND: Nine Steps to
Living Well Forever, coauthored with Terry Grossman, M.D., builds on the science behind radical life extension to present a practical
plan for achieving optimal health and longer life.
TERRY GROSSMAN, M.D.

TERRY GROSSMAN is the founder and medical director of Grossman Wellness Center in Denver, Colorado. His longevity medical
practice attracts patients, including many VIPs (such as coauthor Ray Kurzweil) from around the country and the world. He graduated
from Brandeis University in 1968 and the University of Florida School of Medicine in 1979. He spent 15 years (from 1980-1995)
working as a community family doctor in the Colorado mountains. Dr. Grossman undertook the study of nutritional and anti-aging
medicine in 1994 and in 1995 opened Frontier Medical Institute (now Grossman Wellness Center) in Denver, which quickly grew into
one of the largest complementary medical centers in the country. He is a member and board certified by the American Academy of
Anti-Aging Medicine, the American College for Advancement in Medicine as well as the American Holistic Medical Association. His
special field of interest is nutritional medicine (the treatment of illness with nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and
natural hormones) and anti-aging medicine. He has written numerous articles for health related magazines and peer-reviewed journals
as well as three full-length books, "The Baby Boomers' Guide to Living Forever” (Hubristic Press: 2000), and, in association with Ray
Kurzweil, “Fantastic Voyage: How to Live Long Enough to Live Forever” (Rodale, November 2004) and “TRANSCEND: Nine Steps
to Living Well Forever” (Rodale, 2009). Arline Brecher, coauthor of “Forty Something Forever,” says, “I’ve met good writers and
good doctors, but seldom are they one and the same. Dr. Terry Grossman breaks the mold and sets a new standard for physicians.” Dr.
Herbert L. Jacobs, Chairman, Complementary and Alternative Medicine Task Force of the Colorado Medical Society describes Dr.
Grossman as “one of a handful of modern-day physicians who are laying the foundation for a new paradigm in medicine, combining
cutting-edge medical knowledge with the best evidence-based complementary therapies.” He lectures frequently on topics related to
complementary and anti-aging medicine throughout the United States and internationally and has presented keynote addresses at anti-
aging seminars in Japan, South Korea, South Africa and elsewhere. Dr. Grossman is also the medical director of Health Innovations, a
501(c)3, tax-exempt research foundation and is currently involved in a study of high dose intravenous vitamin C in the treatment of
chronic viral infections.
