Activity Three: Writing

1. T(n)= 4.3n solve for t(5)
T(5)=4.3(5)
T(5)=21.5
2. T(5) represents the time(t) it takes 5 people to say the tongue twister “A cricket
critic cricked his neck at a critical cricket match.”
3. T(0)=means that nobody was saying the tongue twister
4. T(n)= 34.4
-if the function was t(n)=4.3(n) that would mean that 4.3 times n(which equals the
number of people) equals 34.4 seconds. To find n, you would need to divide 34.4
by 4.3 which equals 8. This means that 8 people were saying the tonge twister
5.
n T(n)

No, the points don’t form a line because it’s impossible to have half a person in the data.

Function: t(n) ≈ n+1.5

The correlation for all of the scatter plots is positive because the more people that say a

tongue twister the more the time will increase. As the input increases, so does the output. A

function rule can predict the time it will take n people to say a tongue twister because usually

when you place the number of people in for n you get a number very close to what it would

actually be if you got a whole bunch of people together to say the tongue twister. There is

usually a pattern in the data for this experiment because the tongue twister should take

everybody about the same amount of time to say.
