Critical reflection
Researching and writing the multi-source essay was and is a headache. Searching for the
sources was not so bad given I already have read or was in possession of the articles practically
instantaneously. However the annoyance was the actual writing of the paper. The problem with
writing it was my lack of focus and the time needed to take to do it. Given the other circumstance
I have faced outside of school my ability to do work became more stressed.
My path to writing this paper was to right something regarding my current distaste for the
current system of education, how I have been more or less held back by courses that I need to
transfer but have nothing to do with my intend direction in life. As a result I have been feeling
trapped in a rut. The paper I wrote discuss this and how I have since been approaching my
studies. Im not here to learn Im here to pass another class and get on with my life. Which as a
result is also the how I approach the class as a whole. While I intend to still do my best in the
course, I have this long understanding that my best or even putting the most effort possible is not
efficient enough to pass the class unless my instructor says so.
The choices I have made for the rhetorics arent any different than how I approach any
subject matter, I try to find a problem with the logic-if any- then contemplate why I have a
problem and even try to see the other side of the argument if there is room for logical counter
rhetoric. So as a result I may highly analyze and even to a lesser extent take out of context the
words being said in the article(s) The likely hood of the latter increases if Im skimming and
jumping from paragraph to paragraph in no particularly order.
When writing the final essays the sources I chose were ones that related on a universal
level, being the topic that it is Information retention vs stupidity. I Chose sources that would
assist in helping define and set the two parallel from each other do not confuse the readers as to
make the assumption that one equals the other. Then shown how the two are a problem in adult
learning separately and then demonstrate how Information Retention isnt bad and how using the
internet and more specifically google can in fact assist in you finding the exactly the information
you want to find faster instead of reading through large amounts of dissertations and articles.
Paulo Frieres the banking concept is in fact, while having nothing to do with technology
showed, that while lack of retention through altered thinking patterns may be a problem, how
one teaches you to be taught is also a major problem.
After constant revision I have also found that I dont problematize immediately when
writing a paper. In order for me to problematize and say why I disagree/ or Agree with an issue I
frame in Context why I dont or Do Agree. That was a problem when writing the paper because
that was the advice I could not follow. The same was with the course its self. I dont think I have
technically met my desired goal in the Class just hope I passed it with at least a C or so. Im not
cut out for School and find its troublesome and boring thus may fall behind.
