Mount the finished House on a Wood Surface with two nails or better still -- Drive a length of Rebar into the ground and fit a 6 ft. section of Conduit over it and using plumbing attachments to attach the house to the pole. A pole makes it difficult for snakes to climb up and invade the nest. To deter sparrows from entering the house use monofilament and nuts attached to a crossbar --- this keeps 98% of sparrows out of the house. After the bluebirds have nested and fledged remove the nesting material and brush out any droppings or left over worms..and detritus.
