English 114 B has made me understand the techniques that I need to know in order to become a
better writer. Throughout the semester I learned that writing is a process that can not be rushed. There
are many steps that must be taken in order to write an exceptional paper. riting in!ol!es a lot o"
researching, analy#ing, and re!ising that can lead to multiple dra"ts be"ore one can submit a good
quality essay and e!en then there is still a chance that we can get our essays back with red ink bleeding
through it. riting is a challenge "or e!ery college students but English 114 B has helped me to
de!elop the necessary writing skills. I ha!e de!eloped better researching and organi#ation skills as well
as the ability to analy#e and understand the meaning o" quotes "rom articles and no!els.
$earning about reading, writing, and critical thinking has helped expand my knowledge. The
essays that were read in class were good examples that helped me impro!e my own essays. Being able
to see another person%s essay allowed me to think critically about what the writer%s thesis is and what
they are trying to argue. &ome o" the essays that I read in class contained methods that I didn%t e!en
know about such as starting o"" with humor as an attention grabbing sentence. I ha!e tried to
incorporate some o" these writing techniques in my own essays as well. I learned to express my
position in my thesis and make it identi"iable "or my reader. Ethos, 'athos, and $ogos has helped me
progress in writing. $earning about ha!ing success"ul arguments that are based on reasoning and
pro!iding e!idence has gi!en men the opportunity to de!elop as a trusted speaker to my audience and
to reach out to them.
Through out the semester, I saw ma(or impro!ement in my writing but I wish to continue
learning more on how to become a better writer. There are areas in which I want to keep impro!ing
such as analy#ing quotes "rom articles and no!els, thinking o" creati!e titles and sentences that are
attention grabbing, and integrate more statistics that will help me argue my thesis. I hope to use the
skills that I ha!e gained in this course in other classes as well. I will try to apply my knowledge in
writing with my "uture essays and in my "amily%s small business which in!ol!es writing letters and
emails to customers.
