Butterfield Cosmetic Colours

Manufacturing Process

The two main raw materials are dissolved in water and then reacted together (coupling) to form
the colour. After coupling, the colour is then precipitated out by the addition of salt (sodium
chloride/sodium sulphate). It is then put through a press filter and the filtered cake is then taken
for drying, usually through a spray dryer or oven dryer. Product is then milled and packed.
