1. After assessing Brandon via the Universal Screener, your son
is performing below grade level expectations and has made average growth in mathematics. Below is a graph that illustrates Brandons test scores between Test A, Test B, and the class average. As you can see on the graph, his progress is below that of the class average in both Test A and Test B. We know this because the lines representing Brandons progress are shorter than that of line representing the class average. 2. It seems that the most significant problem area for Brandon is within measurement & data concepts. A few of the sub skills that we will target in Brandons intervention plan include telling time, measuring volume and mass, and perimeter and area concepts. Since he is also struggling with his Base Ten comprehension, were planning to target whole numbers and their operational properties. We chose to target these areas because they are important when developing life skills, computational skills, and higher mathematical thinking. 3. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Smartboard - provide clocks with moveable hands for a hands-on learning experience - Brandon will learn clockwise motions and what each time of the day looks like on a non- digital clock Elmo - Brandon uses manipulatives to become familiar with base-ten concepts - when he thinks he has a correct answer, he will use the Elmo to explain his thinking to his teachers - *use of the Elmo is a type of reward EduCreations (iPad App) - Brandon will utilize this app as a means of explaining his mathematical thinking - he will record his voice as he explains his procedures for finding perimeter and area Measuring Volume, Mass, Density, and Temperature (iPad App) - Brandon will have a visual representatio n of measuring the mass and volume of different materials on a digital scale on the iPad - teaches Brandon to collect data Showcase - Brandon can choose from the exercises from his pull- out sessions and share what he learned with his teachers and peers - AirPlay to screen projectors - *allows teacher to assess his progress 4.Considering the scores collected after four weeks, it is clear that the intervention plan is not reaching the goals we had hoped it would. Brandon failed to obtain an 80% in any of the probes he was given. There is not much consistency to Brandons performance on these probes - a trait that represents mastery of a concept. Therefore, we recommend that Brandon be transferred into a more intensive intervention program. It seems that these pull-out sessions are not enough to give him the extensive instruction he requires. If these pull-out sessions were successful, Brandon would be achieving at least an average of 80% in the probes. It is necessary that Brandon continues in his schools RTI program, and we hope that a new, more rigorous intervention plan will be created to help Brandon achieve grade level expectations in the areas of measurement & data and Base Ten comprehension.
