Analysis of Grade-Level-Appropriate Literary Text: Analyze the effect of the qualities of the character on the plot and the resolution of the conflict

Objective: The student will be able to read the book and answer questions related to the book by the end of the lesson. The student will be able to describe family life in the modern Era 1700 to the present by the end of the lesson. The student will read aloud grade level appropriate story by the end of the lesson The student will decode unknown words in text by using word, sentence and paragraph clues to determine meaning.

Anticipatory Set: (This is what gets kids excited about the lesson and stimulates prior knowledge) The pain of the civil war is hard for 12 year old Will Page to get over. He has lost everyone he knows to Yankees. He is upset about his lost. Now he is forced to move to a place he has never been before. Pu the students in Will shoes. The students are in the same age range as will. Relating them to Will should be easy. Input: (This is all the information that you actually TEACH.this should be HIGHLY detailed). The teacher will tell the short story about a 12 year old losing his family and then moving away to a place he is unfamiliar with. The teacher will read the flash cards and the meanings of the words on the words. The treacher will read a few pages of the Book Shades of Gray with the class.
