Lesson Focus 5/6 Pulleys in Our Lives Expectations - Begin to understand the role pulleys play in daily life

e - Understand who uses pulleys and why we use them Happening the next two days: In partners or individually, students will read about pulleys in daily life. Where they are used, how they can be used, etc - Use books first, then powerpoint to make a master list of all the places you can find pulleys at work From the master list, students will be assigned a pulley system to focus on. They will spend some time independently researching (either using books or internet) and create a poster that highlights their pulley system. Materials - Books on pulleys - NetBooks - Pulleys in Action Worksheet - Poster rubric

Consolidation - With about 10/15 minutes left in lesson 6 (Friday), students care share their poster with the class Assessment: - Poster rubric Differentiation: - examples of more complicated systems will be given to stronger students. Simpler systems can be assigned to weaker students
