Daily Writing #1 (01/15/2014)

1. How do you view yourself as a reader/writer? I view myself as a very logical & mature reader & writer. I say this because whenever I write a message of any forum, I treat it as if it was a detailed written message. 2. What role(s) does reading and writing play in your life inside/outside of school? Reading and writing play the biggest role in my life if you compare it to other subjects. (Math, science, etc.) I think this because I am constantly sending text messages and tweeting via twitter. Writing and reading contribute a lot to my everyday life. Daily Writing #2 (01/17/14) What is English? English is a language that a majority of Americans speak. English is one of the most commonly used languages in the world. However, English is also one of the hardest languages to learn. What is language? Language is the process in which learning how to speak words and put them together to form an accurate sentence structure. Language is one of those words that definition can vary depending on the person. For example, my definition of language most likely will be different than the next person that you ask. The reason for this is because language can be defined in multiple ways.

Daily Writings #8 (03/03/14) Prompt: Given the Learning Outcomes of the course, evaluate your strengths and weaknesses of your performance thus far. Meaning, in what areas of learning are you currently excelling? What areas need improvement? How are you going to address these areas for the rest of the semester? Take this daily writing as an option to truly reflect on your experience for the first half of the semester. Write in full sentences, write in-depth content, and write by applying the skills youve learned thus far. Throughout my first half of rhetoric, I have identified strengths as well as weaknesses in my writings. Through high school I had considered myself a good writer and even was top student in my English classes. I always had thought that I couldnt get any better than I already was. However, since being in rhetoric I have spotted new strengths in my writings. For example, I realized that I channel a lot of detail into my writings. This is a good thing because it gives a reader a clear idea of what I am saying inside of my writing. I also use good transition sentences. I honestly feel like transitioning is my most valuable asset in writing. Transition is very helpful because not only does it organize a paper, but it gives the reader an idea of what is coming up next. I also have spotted a weakness in my writing. A

weakness in my writings is good word structure. I say this because I often see myself using poor words during essays.

Daily Writing #9 (03/19/14) Oral Presentation Prep Day 1. Think about good presentations that you have seen or heard. Describe that presentation and list qualities about that presentation that made it good and/or memorable to you. 2. List your top 5 pet peeves when being an audience for a presentation. What bothers you during presentations? What bores you? 3. In 5 steps, create a How To Give a Solid Presentation outline. One of the most interesting and best presentations I have ever seen would have to be one I had seen on TV. Al Gore was giving a presentation on global warming and how this is affecting us as well as affecting others around the world. I liked this presentation the most because his presentation had all the elements that a presentation would need to be a success. This includes humor, personal stories, information, visuals, etc. My top five pet peeves during presentation would have to be chewing gum, uneasy balance, extreme signs of numerousness, rocking, and low voice controls. I am not really hard on people who give presentations because I do understand what it is like to stand in front of a lot of people and talk. To give a good presentation I believe a person should relax, breathe, think, react, and feel confident. Daily Writing #10 (04/02/14) What does being literate mean in your opinion? Being literate in my opinion is making logical choices. Being literate to me also means to have a certain level of education. I think that someone can be considered literate if they make good decisions in life that will help them benefit. Literacy identity is being able to identify if someone can read/write. I think that being able to read and write accurately makes anyone literate.
