Formula for Potential Energy

Multiply the mass of an object by the acceleration due to gravity and the height of the object.

PE = m x g x h (or) mgh
Units are measured in joules (Gravity = 9.8m/s2)

Formula for Kinetic Energy

Multiply one-half of the objects mass by its velocity squared.

KE = m x v2 (or) mv2
Velocity = speed (in m/s) and direction

Law of Conservation of Energy

Energy can be changed from one form into another but can never be created or destroyed
