Directions: Your Professional Development Plan (PDP) serves as a guide toward continuous improvement during your teacher preparation program. List specific competencies, skills and dispositions you would like to improve on this form, using input from FEAP evaluation reviewed with your mentor teacher, feedback from your faculty steward, and other sources you deem reliable. What do I want to improve? (list specific improvement goals) I feel I could improve my knowledge of Sarasota and Charlotte County current curriculum materials (Pearson, Envision, Storytown, etc.) I would like to find out what textbooks are currently being used, and what programs the county has endorsed for Charlotte and Sarasota Counties. How will I achieve this? (list specific steps you will take) I will look at the Charlotte and Sarasota County schools website as well as attempt to contact school administrators to find out what materials are currently being used. Additionally, I will attempt to contact the companies that distribute these and attempt to request samples that I can study. Lastly, I will consult with educators to see which products they have used in the past that best worked for them. I will continue to search the internet for ideas about pre-packaging lesson materials and research new ideas for distributing them in the most efficient manner. I will also consult with other teachers to learn what strategies they find work best for them. I will then attempt to begin creating pre-packaged lessons that I can use in classes. I would like to increase my proficiency at organizing and preparing classroom materials for use in lessons. I would like to become more efficient with my time management in this area.

What do I want to improve? (list specific improvement goals) I would like to continue looking at new ideas in classroom management, specifically strategies for keeping students on task, in order to better prepare myself for the classroom.

How will I achieve this? (list specific steps you will take) I will search YouTube and other internet resources in search of instructional tutorials or programs that help teachers prepare and improve their classroom management skills. I will search for lessons and learning materials that contain images and concepts that are familiar and interesting to children. I will further research the concept of relevancy and collaborate with peers in order to create meaningful learning connections for students.

What do I want to improve? (list specific improvement goals) I need to update my knowledge of Sarasota and Charlotte County current curriculum materials (Pearson, Envision, iReady, RC, and the newly adopted reading system in Sarasota County, etc.). Additionally I need to stay current on the discussions concerning the Common Core implementation, or lack thereof, and what our school districts plans of operation will be in the future. II would like to find out what new textbooks are currently being used (if any), and what programs the county has endorsed for Charlotte and Sarasota Counties. I would like to continue to increase my proficiency at organizing and preparing classroom materials for use in lessons. I would like to become more efficient with my time management in this area. I believe I have made great strides toward this goal, but there is still room for improvement. Having been present in the classroom and given lessons has given me the opportunity to try different options and see various methods employed by my mentor teachers that I can apply to my own classroom. What do I want to improve? (list specific improvement goals) I would like to continue looking at new ideas in classroom management, specifically strategies for keeping students on task, in order to better prepare myself for the classroom. Having implemented several strategies, I have accumulated many classroom management techniques that I think I will use in my classroom, especially the use of a classroom economy and auction system for student use of classroom reward dollars. I would like to continue exploring options for students who are not average in terms of temperament and who may not respond to typical means of classroom management.

How will I achieve this? (list specific steps you will take) I will continue to search YouTube and other internet resources in search of instructional tutorials or programs that help teachers prepare and improve their classroom management skills. This has provided me with numerous ideas that I would like to attempt to implement in the classroom. I will search for lessons and learning materials that contain images and concepts that are familiar and interesting to children as I have found that this is both highly motivational, as well as helps with classroom management. I will further research the concept of relevancy and collaborate with peers in order to create meaningful learning connections for students.

What do I want to improve? (list specific improvement goals) Having been in the classroom, I now feel comfortable with the Instructional Focus Calendar, Standards located therein, and the current curriculum guides being used in Sarasota County. (Envision, Pearson, Reading Wonders, etc.) However, due to the change in format and focus from a desire to cover FCAT content to the new (and as of yet unfinished) AIR test which will replace the FCAT, I feel it would be in my best interest to do as much research as possible into this subject so that I can remain on the cutting edge of what information will need to be covered in the classroom. I would like to narrow my focus in classroom management, due to my experiences this semester, to learning how to better manage a classroom when there is a particular student (or students) who have disabilities or behavior issues, but have been mainstreamed into my classroom. I feel that it would be beneficial, having experienced this and tried several methods, to continue to focus my classroom management studies on this goal. I feel that this will help me to be better prepared for future classrooms where these types of students will be present. Additionally, I believe I would like to explore my options when it How will I achieve this? (list specific steps you will take) Much like my previous information gathering procedures, I will review the Charlotte and Sarasota County schools website as well as attempt to contact school administrators to find out what materials they plan to use for the upcoming school years. Additionally, I will attempt to contact the companies that distribute these and attempt to request samples that I can study of materials that they currently produce.. I will research and study more common LDs, and behavior issues which are likely to present issues in a classroom as well as search for scholarly articles dealing specifically with teachers having experienced and successfully addressed these issues. I would also like to discuss these possible situations with guidance counselors or other professionals who deal with these students and their impact on mainstream classrooms. What do I want to improve? (list specific improvement goals) comes to teaching exceptional students, gifted in particular. I would like to find out what the requirements are for Gifted Teacher Certification, as well as what job opportunities and placements are open for teachers with this level of specialization. Having utilized the classroom economy strategy of auctions and classroom dollars I think Id like to focus my next goals in classroom management on finding new and innovating ways to organize notes, and find a new system of managing multiple sources of information and task tracking. Having been in a classroom full-time, I feel that I need a system for taking notes, organizing paperwork, parent and student information, schedules, emails and other communications, as well as working out a centralized system that I can use for reminders of important tasks as well as student goals and student notes. I will be looking for Apps that will allow me to make use of my technology skills in a way to help me become more organized with this multitude of data that needs tracking.

How will I achieve this? (list specific steps you will take) In order to find out more about the gifted teaching programs I will seek advice from teachers who already specialize in this field as well as inquire with administrators and the State. In order to meet this goal, I will search the internet for various sources of organizational tools that will be compatible with existing technology, as well as search out ways to best use my tablet and the schools technology to its best effect. I would like to find ways to use the SmartBoard in the school to help maintain schedules and make subject transitions smoother by utilizing this technology to its fullest. I will also inquire with teachers who Ive observed have excellent organizational skills as well as any workshops or presentations on the subject.
