The significance and the power of the resurrection

On easter sunday, Pastor Muyiwa took us through the significance of the resurrection as it relates to our faith and our walk with God. He talked about how the resurrection gives us proof, power and purpose. The Proof The resurrection makes the gospel valid. Without the resurrection, the gospel has no power. In fact, without the resurrection, the gospel is a lie. Our faith is not in vain because Jesus is alive. And because Jesus is alive, we are no longer in our sins.

The scriptures prophesied the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus way back. The resurrection proves to us that prophesies come true. We have the guarantee of resurrection because Jesus has demonstrated that it is possible. He has defeated death. The resurrection has given us power over death, the grave and the devil. Our hope beyond this life is based on the truth of the resurrection.

! ! The Power ! !

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of Gods power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at Gods right hand in the heavenly realms. Ephesian 1:19-20 (NLT)

This ultimate power has been given to us through the Holy Spirit, therefore everything in our life that is dead will come to life when this power is operational in our life. Note, though, that having power alone is not sufficient. Many christians lack the knowledge and because of that the power of the resurrection remains dormant in their lives. This is why Paul eagerly prayed that the people of Ephesus would understand the greatness of that power in them.
