Michael Pimentel Professor Filbeck English 114B 22 April 2014 Image Analysis Of all of the pulp images that Ive seen on the website, the Super Science Stories of July, 1942 and the Super Science Stories of August, 1940 are the two main images that stuck out to me the most. The reason for that is because that you can tell that this series progresses into a different situation as time goes by. Based off of what I saw from the two images, there seems to be an interesting timeline of this series. My reason for that is because in the image that was made in 1940, you can see that the woman is in a battle with the main character of the story which is the man in the spaceship. However, in the 1942 image you can see that the woman is now in some type of alliance with the man. This shows that in the earlier years of this story it can depict as to how it was during that time with the conflict with equal rights for women. In my eyes it represents the battle between races for equal value in society. Now in the image of the story during 1942 you can see that both man and woman were working together to fight against something that was more important than conflict with just the other race. The timeline of 1940 to 1942 can be described easily by just the illustration of the covers in these stories. It looks as if society developed the reasoning that all people are created equal and should have the right to have just as many opportunities as the other race. Even though it took years for that to be fulfilled, it displays that there was a dramatic improvement into how the author displayed his work. The authors main focus was to please the readers of this story. In order to do that, the author needed to understand how peoples mindsets have changed over time.

So in other words, I think the author did a fantastic job in pleasing his audience with the aspects and mindsets they all have during this time. Based off of these images, I can understand the interpretation as to how the society during that time would picture how their world will look like in the next century. The images displayed how the future was going to look like in their eyes. Now that Im living in this following century, I find it interesting as to how people can create thoughts in their heads as to how the future would look like. People continue to predict in their minds as to what will the next big thing be. People would have never thought that technology would increase so rapidly throughout time. People in the previous century wouldve never thought that we would have the luxury of having communication with people all over the world with just a simple touch of a button. People can never predict their future, but it will always be fun to think as to what is achievable for mankind.
