Personal Statement My senior year or high school I got to do an internship at my dream job, a law office.

Soon to find out its not what I thought it was going to be. There was a lot more reading and paper work than I thought. Also, I wasn t spending any time in the courtroom like I thought that I would be. I didn t like what I was doing. I wanted to be able to help people and change their life, but I wasn t helping anyone I felt. After, being at the law office for about a month I talked to my internship teacher to see If I could change where I was interning at. She found a teacher at !i"er"iew looking for a intern. I took the opportunity to intern with my American Sign #anguage teacher. I got to help students that are hard of hearing and deaf learn how to talk, form words and sounds. $elping these students was so much more rewarding to me than sitting at the law office all day just reading paper work and or filing paper work for someone. %y the end of the year I was certain that I wanted to be a teacher, an elementary school teach. I felt that I got much more of a reward out of teaching kids the fundamentals of reading, writing, math, e"erything that they will need to know to help get them started on life. Something that they will take with them for the rest of their life Teaching children is much more rewarding to be than possibly defending someone that might not be innocent. &urrently, I am a full time student at State &ollege of 'lorida, Manatee(Sarasota, for elementary education, for my Associate s of Arts )egree. I am almost half way through with recei"ing my associate s degree. I plan to graduate by *+,-, and transfer to 'lorida State .ni"ersity, or .ni"ersity of &entral 'lorida to finish my bachelors degree for elementary education. $opefully along the way I will be able to find a internship where I am able to intern with a kindergarten teacher, thus I can learn how to do lesson plan, teach the class, and anything else that I can be taught how to be the best teacher. After graduation, I want to mo"e back to Sarasota and hopefully find a teaching job at Southside /lementary. If I cant find a teaching job right away I might try to be a substitute teacher until I am able to find a elementary school that I will ha"e a permanent position there. 'urthermore, after teaching for a few years I want to go back to school to be able to recei"e my Masters degree in elementary education. Maybe then I will decide if I want to mo"e up to a higher person at the school such as a principal or, if I want to earn my Masters degree and keep ha"ing the satisfaction of teaching students something that they will use for the rest of their life.
