Reporting Relationship The Teacher will work under the direction of the School Principal. Position Summary The Teachers are responsible for the provision of classroom support and instruction where applicable. Essential Functions Prepare lessons for presentation to students according to approved curriculum Teach students using a systematic plan of lessons, audio-visual presentations and other learning resources Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development Assign and correct homework Prepare and administer tests Evaluate student progress and communicate results with students, parents and school officials Identify children`s learning styles and needs Prepare and implement remedial programs for children requiring extra help Participate in staff meetings, teacher training workshops, professional development days and language classes May supervise teacher`s assistants and student teachers Qualifications and Requirements Preferred, Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Education with teaching experience Minimum, Valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate and Undergraduate Degree; Have knowledge and/or experience with the culture, tradition, history and customs of the Anishinaabe Understanding and fluency of Ojibwe is an asset or must be willing to learn the language CRC/VSS requirement must be current thirty (30) days, original or certified copy It is mandatory for the successful candidate(s) to submit a current thirty (30) day VSS; offer of employment is subject to receipt of a satisfactory VSS record.
CRC/VSS Rationale MChigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults, so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. Applicants must provide a clear VSS Certificate and the CRC must have a record clear and/or dated of any convictions relating to alcohol, drugs, assault, violence and theft. The CRC and VSS must be current (30 days) and must be an Original.
