Define the term Computer literacy? Why is it important to be a computer literate

person?

ANSWER: Computer Literacy is the knowledge and understanding of

computers and their uses as computers are everywhere.

What is computer? List and briefly explain five (5) components of computer.

ANSWER: Computer is defined as electronic device operating under

the control of instructions stored in its own memory. The 5
components of computers are input devices, output devices. System
unit, storage devices and communication devices.

Explain and give an example of computer advantages.

ANSWER: Computer advantages are the benefits of using computers.

It includes speed, reliability, consistency, storage and communication.
In terms of reliability, computers rarely break or fail.

What are the disadvantages of computer and suggest way(s) to overcome it.

ANSWER: The disadvantages of using computers are violation of

privacy, public safety, impact on labor force, health risks and impact
on environment. To overcome health risks, one should not have
prolonged or improper use of computer as this will cause injuries and
disability. To overcome public safety, one should not simply share
their personal information online as it will allow strangers and
scammers to locate the owner.
