For this artifact & chose to do t'o of m( fa)orite non*)erbal communication resources that & ha)e used 'hen teachin$+ The first artifact is m( 'ebquest, & personall( li-e 'ebquest because the( are somethin$ that m( students are able to do on their o'n but the( also ha)e m( support that & ha)e built into the pa$e+ & also ha)e m( email lin-ed into the 'ebquest so that students can send me an email ri$ht a'a( if the( need help 'ith an(thin$+ To me this is a )er( effecti)e 'a( to communicate 'ith m( students because the( can still as- me for help but & can also still ha)e them 'or- on assi$nments 'hile the( are at home+ The other artifact is a picture schedule that & put to$ether 'hen & 'as teachin$ a s'immin$ lesson to a student 'ho had a disabilit(+ The picture schedule is somethin$ that he understood )er( 'ell 'here as he did not understand )erbal communication all that 'ell+

& learned that it is not o-a( to 2ust communicate )erball( 'ith students+ Some students simpl( do not understand )erbal communication+ & learned that it is important to ha)e se)eral different communication options so that (ou can reach e)er( one of (our students instead of 2ust the ones that can communicate 'ell )erball(+ With teachin$ it is important that all of (our students understand 'hat is $oin$ on because if the( do not understand the( 'ill not be able to be successful and it is possible that the( 'ill not be as safe as the( need to be+

Explain %hat you learned about yourself as a prospective educator as a result of this experience/artifact:

& learned that it 'as a little uncomfortable for me to communicate in some of these different 'a(s at first but after & $ot used to it & reali3ed that it is 2ust another tool for m( tool box+ & learned that & can tr( ne' thin$s and be able to do them effecti)el( and this 'ill help m( future students+ & learned that & can learn man( ne' thin$s to be able to help m( students understand more and be more successful in m( class+ 1no'in$ that & still ha)e a lot to learn is a ma2or step because no' & can ta-e strides to learn different communication s-ills to help m( students be more successful and help them li)e lon$er, healthier li)es+
