Background During the start of this module various different workshops were held for the Business Game. Therefore each of the team members had decided to attend different workshops. Subsequently I had attended the workshop named Changing Strategy by Allan Lee. The workshop I had attended was important for the business game simulation, which was to be completed after the Christmas holidays. Action(s) Taken During the workshop numerous issues were discussed regarding changing strategies and this was also linked with the simulation. Therefore it was vital for me to share the knowledge gained from the workshop. As the workshop included very important information, which would help during the simulation. Consequently I had taken detailed notes during the workshop and put the notes in a simple and easy to understand format for my team members to understand. Outcome By attending the workshop I was able to gain an insight into the various theoretical concepts taken when changing strategy. During the workshop this was also linked with the business game simulation. Therefore I was able to use this knowledge to help the team when making decisions for the simulation. I was able to share the knowledge I had gained during the workshop with the team thus improving our simulation performance. Our teams success for the simulation was evident by our final profit being the largest in the tutorial group. Learning I was able to gain a stronger understanding of the theory involved with changing strategy. As well as this I learnt about various approaches taken when changing strategies. Further Development In the future I will research into strategy and learn how the theoretical knowledge I have gained is applied practically in organisations. As well as this I will learn about the various perspectives different academics have with regards to strategy. As different perspectives lead to a different view of strategy, Wheelan & Hungers (2012) view of strategy is that a strategy of a corporation forms a comprehensive master plan that states how the corporation will achieve its mission and objectives.
