You and a partner are going to be interior designers for a design project and presentation. You are going to pretend that two famous people are married and are hiring interior designers to design their home. You are going to create a design that shows a combination of both of their styles and then you will present your design to them trying to convince them to hire you. Step 1: Brainstorm your ideas. Work with your partner to decide which features of the house you will both present. You may work together on your design, but you should know ahead of time which parts of the house that each of you will be responsible for presenting. Fill out the graphic organizer explaining various elements that you will include in your design and why they are important to the design. Step 2: Design a Presentation. Make a PowerPoint or Google Presentation of your design. Pay special attention that you have design elements of both of your clients. Your presentation may have labeled objects and headings, but it may NOT have full sentneces that you will read. Step 3: Outline your presentation. You will not be reading a presentation, so it will be very important to outline what you will say ahead of time. The object of your presentation is to convince (think: subjunctive!) your clients that you are the designers for the job! Persuade them to hire you by stating the reasons for designing the way you did. Step 4: Present to your clients. You and your partner should each speak for at least 1 minute. For every second you are under your time 2 points will be subtracted from your total score. You may use a note card with any 25 words written on it. This note card will be turned in at the end of the presentation. You should NOT read your presentation.
Your grade will be counted as a formal assessment in the class. The grade for the PowerPoint will be the same as your partners but everything else will be individual. It will be calculated as follows: _____/10 points PowerPoint: Creativity and visual presentation. Does it flow well? Did you combine the styles of both clients? Did you put effort into planning your design? Can we tell who the clients are based on the contents of your presentation? _____/10 points Pronunciation: This is your individual effort to sound authentic while speaking. _____/15 points Correct use of grammar and the use of the subjunctive at least 5 times within your presentation. Did you use various subjunctive triggers and verbs while speaking? _____/15 points Your ability to convince and communicate your ideas during your presentation. Did you explain why you designed the way that you did? Did you speak to your clients using the polite usted and ustedes verb forms? How was the flow of your presentation?
