English 11 Rose/Moren The Things They Carried

For this project you will be researching an important event that rocked the world sometime between 1960 and today. Once you have chosen your event, you will research the event and its effects. You will then determine what people carry because of this event, politically, socially and in many cases, emotionally and physically. You will present your findings in an informational booklet with a bibliography.

Aspects of the Project:

Research: Find 5 or more sources about your chosen event and its outcomes. Discuss: Develop a hypothesis (theory) about what the event has caused people/society/communities to carry. This might be social, physical, psychological, political, emotional, or a combination of these. Write a discussion that explores the things they carry that is supported by your research. Create: You will present your research about the event and your discussion regarding the effects in an informational booklet. The booklet will contain 3 parts: 1) Your research findings; 2) the presentation of your hypothesis (the discussion of what they carry); and 3) a bibliography of your research. Your booklet can include pictures, articles, clippings and so on from your research and that support your hypothesis. These, too, must be properly cited. There will be no overlapping of events by class; each student will have a unique event to research.
