Course Expressions

Academic Reflection In expression I really liked knitting unit . It was very fun.We did not get to keep what we knitted but was still completely happy with helping not as fortunate kids in the community. In the beginning I wasn't well coordinated until towards the end. But the whole time I was very behind the others, so that was not very responsible. We created and designed our own dream school during class. This was my favorite project all trimester second to grease. My dream school was based off the 8 intelligences originally thought of by Howard Gardner Math became very tech savvy this unit because we learned how to use a very elaborate graphing calculator. Learning how to use it made math so much faster and I think we needed that. I particularly don't like pe because I'm not an outdoorsy person. I still tried my best when in Pe, even when faced with a sport I don't enjoy in the least bit. Basketball was my least favorite unit but i still worked hard to sharper the need skills I enjoyed our time spent on acids and basics. We created a poster on how ocean acidification was affecting marine life, which really surprised me how much it hurt the animals. I really dug into the civil disobedience unit. I was very inspiring to learn about the people who stood for what they beileved. We had a unit on photoshop which is a program I had never used before. The process was extremely complicated. many times I got lost trying to keep up with the class but I persisted. After a while I got the hang of using it. Leading Edge Academy Pillar Connections Pillar Connections made this Trimester Give Concrete Examples For P.E were have videos taken of us trying to perform what we just learned. After the video is made, we on our own time are supposed to practice the skill to make it better. That show that we have initiative to try outside of school.

Critical Thinking/Innovative Problem Solving Technical Savvy

English took a lot of our critical thinking skills when we made a RSA or stop motion video. It was my first time making something of that nature. We did a lot of work on creating, it after reading the book . The video was meant to be a summary of Tomorrow When the War Began. This trimester in math we showed great understanding of technical savviness . Most of the students downloaded a very elaborate graphing calculator on their phones and we spent a whole unit trying to figure it out so we could do our homework. In technology Iman M., Ameera K., and I created a video about how the Muslim women are discriminated against. In our video we showed normal residents of Natomas how women or in our case a young girl wearing the traditional head scarf being discriminated against. The citizens responded angrily at the site of discrimination and we also asked some of them question based off of the Muslim culture During history we were expected to read an article on world news and write a three paragraph response on it. This helped us get in touch with the world.
