ABSTRACT Backgroud : Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, with knee arthritis being the leading cause

of lower extremity disability among older adult, especially women and obese person. We therefore examine the relation of age, gender and obesity as risk factors for osteoarthritis Methods : 66 participants from puskesmas Wonoayu divided into two group, case and control, with 33 participants each group. We examined the relationship of osteoarthritis to several risk factors such as age (< 50 years and > 50 years), gender (women and men), and obesity (BMI > 30 kg/m2), respectively using odds ratio with generalized estimating equation. Result : Among 66 participants, Older age (> 50 years) was associated with higher risk for knee osteoarthritis (OR 3.12); women was associated with higher risk for knee osteoarthritis (OR 5.95); and obesity was associated with higher risk for knee osteoarthritis (OR 2.96). Conclusion : This study shown that obesity, women and age > 50 years old is risk factors for knee osteoarthritis, at puskesmas Wonoayu, kecamatan Wonoayu, Sidoarjo Key words : Age, BMI, Knee osteoarthritis, Obesity, Puskesmas Wonoayu, Women.
