Steroids and Athletes Being Fit is Expensive, is a quote athletes say a lot. What does this mean? Well, lets give a great introduction to

the friendly drug named steroids. That tempting friend that promises a great, strong, and fit life without showing the consequences of using them. Presented here is steroid's history, the consequences, and why athletes use them. It may seem as if that little friend wants to help everyone look and feel perfect the easy way, but all it wants is to destroy them. There are different types of steroids: Sterols, Anabolic Steroids, and Corticosteroids and these types of steroids help you with different things. My opinion on steroids is I think athletes should not use steroids it is pointless because all you doing is hurting your body. I feel if you want to have a fit body you should do it the right way.

Background on Steroids Steroids are is the familiar name for fake substances related to the male sex hormones. They help the growth of skeletal muscle and the development of male sexual characteristics in both males and females. Steroids are an also known as anabolic substance which means the promotion of growth in the human's muscles. Anabolic steroids can be legally approved to treat conditions resulting from steroid hormone deficiency, such as delayed puberty, as well as diseases that result in loss of lean muscle mass, such as cancer and AIDS. But some athletes, bodybuilders, and others abuse these drugs in an

attempt to enhance performance and/or improve their physical appearance. Steroids have been around since the 1930s. In the 1930's, scientists were able to create a fake form of testosterone to help treat men who were unable to produce enough of the hormone for normal growth, development, and sexual

The Use of Steroids in Sports One reason why people use steroids is to increase their muscle size and lose body fat, basically, to have what people so call The perfect body. Also, to achieve certain physical assets, for example, if a guy wants to join the football team and does not have the perfect body he would use steroids to be able to perform greatly at the certain physical activities. This is the reason most teenagers use steroids. Not only males but also females consume it. Females consume it to be able to walk having those amazing legs everyone wish they had, but if they only knew the damage that theyre doing to their body. Many other sports use this such as football, boxing, wrestling, and track. Steroids are illegal in much athletic performance. There are many codes restrictions and tests that prevent you from using these predicts in anyway. Basically steroids are banned in the common world. Only use of steroids you can use is for health reason, which your doctor can give you a prescription for. Athletes feel they need to use steroids to improve their

performance. They want to be bigger and better than anyone that come up against them. Its mostly a sense of greed; they dont think about their health only their future. When all of that can come to an end. Athletes use steroids for strength and speed. When they are working out they dont feel pain because its a constant rush among the body. It also causes an athlete to lose a lot of weight because of the amount of urinating steroids cause. Its an advantage though to some athletes based upon the sport that they participate.

Steroid Abuse Steroids are harmful to your body. Some side effects for a male can cause him to have testicular cancer; which may consist of him losing muscle-tissue. If a woman starts to take steroids, her body hormones will start to change; but disturbing or increasing natural hormones will cause changes to her body physically and mentally. Steroids take a huge toll on your nervous system and all of your organs. It damages your eyesight, loss of hair, causes the heart to have high levels of cholesterol building among the walls, and increases blood poison. For your muscles and bones you have pain that may occur. Eventually, your muscles start to tear from the infected medicine that youre injecting. Facial features even change from

the constant use, such as severe acne, bad breath, bruising from injection and males develop breast while women lose breast.Steroids are mainly used by bodybuilders, athletes, and fitness buffs people who claim steroids give them a competitive advantage and/or improve their physical performance. Steroids are also believed to reduce recovery time between workouts, which makes it possible to train harder and improve strength and endurance. Some people who are not athletes also take steroids to increase their endurance, muscle size and strength, and reduce body fat which they believe improves personal look.

The Effect Use of Steroids The short terms of steroids may increase lean muscle mass, strength, and the talent to train longer and harder, the serious side effects of steroids are many and may not be reversible. The minor side effects of steroid use include acne, oily skin, excess hair growth, and deepening of the voice. The major side effects of steroid use include an increased risk of cancer, increased risk of heart and liver disease, jaundice, fluid retention, reduction in HDL-C, high blood pressure, changes in blood coagulation, increased risk of atherosclerosis, swelling of the soft tissues of the extremities, and obstructive sleep For long terms young people who abuse steroids are at a

significant risk of suffering permanent side effects, including stunted growth, accelerated puberty changes and strange sexual development. Minor girls in particular may suffer from severe acne, excessive body and facial hair, permanent enlargement of the clitoris, disruption of the menstrual cycle, and permanent infertility. Psychologically, there is increasing concern regarding possible serious health problems that are related with the abuse of steroids, including both short-term and long-term side effects. The short-term adverse physical effects of anabolic steroid abuse are fairly well known. The short-term side effects in men are reversible with discontinuation of steroid use. Effects seen in women, such as deep voice, body and facial hair growth, enlarged clitoris, and baldness are not reversible. The long-term adverse physical effects of anabolic steroid abuse in men and in women, other than effects, have not been studied, and as such, are not known. However, it is speculated that possible long-term effects may include adverse cardiovascular effects such as heart damage and stroke.

Legal Actions and Consequences for using Steroids The legal actions and consequences for using steroids for most state laws say that the sales of anabolic steroids, possession of steroids, or possession of steroids with target to sell, are all classified as felonies. Any person who is

convicted of the sale of steroids, or possesses steroids illegally with intent to sell, may be in jail by up to five years in prison under federal law. That same person may face more than 5 years of punishment, depending on their states law. Almost every state has sanctioned various laws placing anabolic steroids in the Controlled Substance category.
