The latest news on drug testing students, the Georgetown school district has brought the drug testing program for students after the 2011 budget cut. use had increased after the district discontinued the program. The students consequence was being cut from all activities. Was that fair, then bad enough they had to pay a 17 dollar fee for just taking the test. Another reason is an Oklahoma football play has over dosed and died. That tragic moment brought a lot more attention the drug usage at schools. That also made athletes a big target. Alcohol is the main cause of teen deaths, so schools made the death rate of students around the world a reason for drug testing. Drug testing isnt all bad; good can come from it. You have more schools putting in more program and some are getting rid of it. For the most part its not helping, because students have found ways to get around testing. Many student athletes feel that it shouldnt matter, because they know outside school grounds they are free to do whatever they want. Schools have a drug testing program will most likely find less than twenty percent of their students test negative. Effectiveness of drug testing is a plus, but for how long?
