CARPET SPREADSHEET 1. Rosa is going to buy a new carpet for her office. The office consists of three rooms.

Calculate the cost of carpeting each room and the total cost for the three rooms. The carpet costs $20.50 per square yard installed. The room sizes are given in feet, (Square feet is calculated as length * width). To convert square feet to square yards, divide square feet by 9. When you have the square yards you can then create a formula to figure the cost of carpeting each room. 2. Create a spreadsheet similar to the one below. Use cell addresses and formulas to figure the math. There will be six multiplication formulas, three division formulas and one addition formula. A 1 B C D Square Feet E Square Yards F Cost Per Sq. Yard G Room Cost

2 Room Length Width 3 A 12 14 4 B 12 12 5 C 14 16 6 Total 3. Total the cost for the three rooms in cell G6. Format square feet and square yards to one decimal place. Reducing the decimal is on the home tab above number. Format the cost per square yard, $20.50, the room cost and total for the three rooms to accounting. That is found above number, click on the arrow next to general and select accounting. 4. To get your four titles to look like mine select them and click on wrap text which is on the alignment section of the ribbon. Set the width of the first column to 6, the next two columns to 8 and the next three to 9. The last column should have a width of 10. Center the alignment of everything, labels and numbers, (values). Place boarders around the data. This is found in the font section of the Home tab, select more boarders then select a boarder. 5. Copy the worksheet and place below the first. Change the room size in the second worksheet to Room A, length =18, width = 20; room B, length = 10, width =15; room C, length = 6, width = 12. 6. Create a pie chart that shows the percent of the total carpet used in each room, (use the Square yards data from the first table). Highlight the data including the title and go to Insert, charts, pie. Place below the 2nd spreadsheet. 7. Place your name in footer. Print your spreadsheet; make sure you print only one page! Next reprint your spreadsheet so your formulas will show. Go to the formulas tab on the menu bar then select show formulas. You will need to adjust the size of your cells so it will print on one page. All I want to see on this print out is the formulas. Print and staple them together and turn in. Spelling, capitalization, and proper formatting count on your first printout.
