I. Objectives
After 40 minutes, the students should be able to:
• identify a kaleidoscope;
• state how the kaleidoscope works;
• follow instructions given by the teacher and;
• tell the importance of the sense of sight.

II. Subject Matter

TOPIC:
Reflection made by kaleidoscope

CONCEPT:
• Light that comes from colors and images reflected on mirror
can create multiple images and patterns.
• The steps in making a kaleidoscope are:

1. Prepare the materials needed in making the kaleidoscope.

2. Get the three (3) mirrors and arrange them in triangular form.
Tape them in place.
3. Now, get the transparency sheet. Trace the tube on the
transparency. There should be two circles on the transparency.
Cut the two (2) circles. Have an adult to assist you. Set this
aside.
4. Get the tube. From one edge of the tube, cut at least 1 ½
inch using the cutter. Have an adult to assist you.
5. Get the cut-out transparencies. Put the other transparency
on the “ring” we have just made using hot glue. Have an adult
to assist you.
6. Put the beads in the “dish”.
7. Seal the “dish” with another transparency.
8. Prepare the tube. Place the mirrors inside the tube. Put
crumpled newspaper beside the mirror so it will stay in place.
9. Place the finished “dish” on the tube using hot glue. Have an
adult to assist you.
10. Now, let’s make a viewing hole of the kaleidoscope. Trace
the tube on another cardboard. Cut it out. On the center of cut-
out, cut a small hole. Place the viewing hole on the other side of
the tube.
11. You can decorate the kaleidoscope by wrapping it up with
colorful papers or putting stickers on it.

3. Statement of the Aim

“What sense do you use to see “We use our sense of sight to see
different things?” the different things around us.”

“Correct.”

“Today, you will see things in a

completely different way!

B. Explanation of Concept,
Theory or Process
“I have here a mirror with me.
This also helps us see things
around us.

Do you know that it makes

patterns out of images and
colors?

There is a thing that we call

kaleidoscope.

A kaleidoscope helps us see

colors and image patterns
differently. So, what is a
kaleidoscope anyway?

A kaleidoscope is composed
of mirrors that reflect the real
images, creating beautiful and
colorful patterns. The real
secret of the kaleidoscope is
the use of mirrors. Mirrors
reflect or imitate the images,
how they look like exactly.

Today, to understand
kaleidoscope on how they
work, you will see how to make
one!”

C. Demonstration of the
Correct Process, Concept or
Theory
1. Objective
“Today, you will learn how to
make a kaleidoscope and see
how it works.”

2. Title of the Activity

“The title of our activity is
“Making a Kaleidoscope”. I will
show you how to make one.”
“Tube, mirror, scratch

“Very good students!”

“We should listen attentively.”
4. Giving of Standards “We should sit properly.”
“Now, what should you do “Don’t do unnecessary

demonstrating in front?”

5. Demonstration Proper
“Okay, I think you’re ready to
listen and watch how to make a
kaleidoscope.

Now, here’s how:

1. Prepare the materials
needed in making the
kaleidoscope.

2. Get the three (3) mirrors

and arrange them in triangular
form. Tape them in place.

3. Now, get the transparency

sheet. Trace the tube on the
transparency. There should be
two circles on the
transparency. Cut the two (2)
circles. Have an adult to assist
you. Set this aside.

4. Get the tube. From one

edge of the tube, cut at least 1
½ inch using the cutter. Have
an adult to assist you.

5. Get the cut-out

transparencies. Put the other
transparency on the “ring” we
have just made using hot glue.
Have an adult to assist you.

6. Put the beads in the “dish”.

7. Seal the “dish” with another

transparency.

8. Prepare the tube. Place the

mirrors inside the tube. Put
crumpled newspaper beside
the mirror so it will stay in
place.

9. Place the finished “dish” on

the tube using hot glue. Have
an adult to assist you.

10. Now, let’s make a viewing

hole of the kaleidoscope. Trace
the tube on another cardboard.
Cut it out. On the center of
cut-out, cut a small hole. Place
the viewing hole on the other
side of the tube.

11. You can decorate the

kaleidoscope by wrapping it up
with colorful papers or putting (Students will have the chance to
stickers on it. hold and see the kaleidoscope
and return it to teacher.)
“Now, we have our very own
kaleidoscope!”
I will pass this around so you “I see different patterns, images
can see what’s inside.” and colors.”

D. Discussion of the “We saw red, blue, yellow, black,

Observation green, orange and violet“
“Now that you have seen the
kaleidoscope, tell me what are “It is reflecting to the mirrors
the things that you saw inside? inside the kaleidoscope.”

“What colors did you see?”

“What do you think is

happening to the light inside
the kaleidoscope?”

“Very good. You saw different

colors because the light
reflected on the mirror. You
saw different patterns inside
because we had placed the
mirrors inside in a triangular
form.”

E. Proving the Concept, Theory

or Process
“Now that you have learned
about reflections, we are going
to have a game. The title of our
game is “Mirror, Mirror, Who’s
the Fairest of Them All?” “Yes, teacher!”

“Our game goes like this. There

will be a “Doer” and a “Mirror”. (Students will find a partner and

will have to follow my the “Mirror”.)
instructions. The “Mirror” will
have to quickly follow what the
“Doer” is doing. Do you “Yes, teacher!”
understand?” (Students will do the actions
instructed by the teacher.)
“Now you need to find a
partner and decide who will
need to be the “Doer” and who
will be the “Mirror”.”

“Are you ready?”

• Jump up and down.
• Sit down.
• Make a happy face.
• Make a sad face.
• Stand up and shake you body.
• Face to the right and walk in
place.
• Raise your right hand and
laugh.
• Face to the left and do the
otso-otso dance.
• Do the Spaghetti Dance
slowly.
• Do the Papaya Dance.
