Students Prior Knowledge: Children have previously discussed their journey from home to school using image-making and beginning writing to represent characters and events in written, film and web-based texts using speaking, writing and drawing to represent and communicate personal responses to ideas and events experienced through texts

Lesson Objectives (i.e. anticipated outcomes of this lesson, in point form beginning with an action verb) As a result of this lesson, students will be able to: Children will be able to use the book creator app effectively Children will be able to work collaboratively in small groups Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation: 1 ipad per 2 children with the book creator app downloaded Projector on smartboard Provision for students at educational risk: Children that have difficulty using ICT will be paired with a partner that is good at ICT. Problematic children will have an educators assistant to help supervise.

Time 120:00 Motivation and Introduction: The children will come in from recess and sit quietly on the mat. The educator will explain to the children that they will be creating a book based on their painted pictures of their journey from home to school the day before. The teacher will then divide the children into partners and give each little group of 2 an iPad. Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions): 12:10 Once each child is paired up with a partner the teacher will demonstrate on their own ipad how to use the app and how to take pictures and add in recording and text. When the children have a firm understanding of the task they will go and retrieve their painted pictures from the previous day and explain their journey to their partner. The teacher will explain that their artwork will be the front cover of the book. The children will be directed to the bee bot map created for the bee bot activity and they will be allowed to take photos of the different buildings and shops and houses to use in their book. Children can go outside the classroom to find anything that may be relevant to their story book. Once the children have finished their story book they will save and publish it and come to sit on the mat. The teacher will be able to log on and view each groups books and display it on the smart board so all the children can sit and watch eachothers books. Smartboard and projector Resources/References

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students) Once all the books have been shown the teacher will ask the students what they thought of the activity and how they found the book creator app.

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?) Prior to the next lesson they will be given some free play time Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?) The objectives will be assessed using observation. The teacher will walk around and observe whether the children are working well together and if they understand the task and app.
