Module 2 Writing Assignment & Daily Schedule Competency 3 examines instructional design, delivery, and assessment associated with the Texas statewide assessment program. Suitable learning goals and objectives support teachers as they construct effective and logical instruction and assessment. In chapter four in our textbook, it discusses how effective planning is initiated by selecting topics and continues with specifying learning objectives, preparing and organizing learning activities, and designing assessments. The process known as backwards design involves the association and identifying of objectives and assessments during planning. Competency 4 discusses learning processes and elements that influence student learning. Understanding learning processes and factors that impact student learning and validating this knowledge by planning effective, engaging instruction and suitable assessments is vital for teachers to utilize in the classroom. Likewise, chapter 6 shows that effective learning requires students to be actively involved by featuring clear and precise learning objectives, significant depictions of content, and adept questioning by teachers. Of these, I find the way in which teachers ask questions to be the most effective tool. Accentuating key points with the use of reiteration, and allowing adequate time for each student to process information before answering, shows sincere astuteness in teaching. Competency 8 analyzes applicable instructional procedures and tactics that dynamically engage students in the learning process. The teacher involves students actively in the learning process by providing proper instruction. Chapter 5 provides a general instructional model that I find is a valuable sort of checklist for effective teaching. Reviewing previous work to spark prior knowledge of students and capture their attention, continuing to involve them while relating well

organized content and detailed feedback about their progress, concluding their lessons with a comprehensive review. In conclusion, the topics I found most beneficial for teaching are effective planning, questioning and the general instructional model, which are all discussed in chapters 4, 5 and 6 and are also related to the competencies discussed throughout this paper. In order to be the best teacher I can be, I definitely plan on using all of these techniques effectively in my classroom when I begin teaching. By doing this, it will not only benefit myself, but my students learning and success as well!
