September 24, 2013 RE: Recommendation for Paige Granger Dear Sir or Madam: It gives me great pleasure to write

to you concerning Paige Granger. As a teacher at the school Paige is currently attending, I have known her for the past three years. Over this time period I have been able to observe Paige academically as well as in the social interaction of the school environment. I can assuredly state that in my dealings with Paige she is a student who is self disciplined, involved, and willing to go the extra yard. Motivation is a quality that is sadly diminishing in todays society, yet Paige absolutely utilizes her inner drive to get all tasks accomplished. I met Miss Granger during her sophomore year in a class I taught entitled Honors English 10; an academically advanced class that focuses on reading and analyzing literature and writing expository and argumentative essays utilizing MLA format. Paige was always present in my class, not only physically, but also intellectually. Her focus not only earned her high grades in the class, it also earned her admiration from her teacher. Paiges dedication to her academics has earned her a place on the honor roll for the past three years of attending Elk Rapids High School. Additionally, she has maintained her high grade point average while taking academically rigorous classes such as: Honors U.S History; Honors English 9 and 10; Advanced Placement Biology, Literature, and U.S History. Paiges hard work and determination culminates with the fact that she was elected president of the class of 2014. Most notably, Paige is a person who truly cares about others. In school, she is involved with Students Against Destructive Decisions, National Art Honor Society, Michigan Youth in Government, and the Rotary Interact Club. Outside of school, she has served as a Big Sister, worked as an altar server for her church, volunteered for Operation Christmas Child, and Rake and Run, which are all programs to serve those community members in need. Paige also volunteers at Tendercare Nursing Home, not to earn kudos, but simply because she likes elderly people, which, to me distinguishes her from most of her peers. All in all, Paiges dedication to her education and community will indeed benefit her in the future and I am sure she will excel in whatever path she chooses. Sincerely, Annie Goodman, Communication Arts Teacher
