Prosperity for us or PolyMet?

Dear Tim, Big corporations like Glencore, BP and PolyMet want to be let off the hook for environmental disasters while Minnesotans like us are stuck with 500+ years of irreversible damage. That's not the future I want for my kids and that's not the path to creating opportunity and prosperity for the people of Minnesota. If elected your next state representative, I will be your advocate with the DNR and work to create jobs that are sustainable so we don't have to compromise our environment or the future of our great state. Releasing sulfuric acid into our water supply and dramatically increasing our carbon footprint via dirty coal-fired power plants is WRONG. It exacerbates climate change while what we need to be doing is decreasing our carbon footprint and protecting our environment and natural resources for future generations. We are being sold a false choice: picking between jobs and our environment is the wrong debate. We know we can do both by creating sustainable green jobs and transitioning to solar, wind and alternative fuels to reduce, not increase, greenhouse gas emissions. PolyMet's future is in the DNR's hands right now and they have heard from nearly 40,000 individuals already on this risky project. I have submitted my concerns and you should too. Comments on the draft EIS can be submitted up until 4:30pm this Thursday, March 13th. Please visit http://dnr.state.mn.us/input/environmentalreview/polymet/comments.html to share your thoughts on this important issue. I need your support to do this work at the Capitol. I hope to earn your vote at the DFL endorsing convention on March 23 and look forward to seeing you there! Sincerely,
