Fire Drill/ Emergency Evacuation Fire Alarm System Purpose: Fire drills, bomb threats, natural gas leaks,

or other potential danger

Lock Down Announcement: This is a soft lock down. (Pull magnetic strip and Continue with lesson) Announcement: This is a hard lock down. (Pull magnetic strip and Move away from all windows and doors in the classroom and turn out the lights.) Purpose: Hostage situation or noncompliant stranger on campus or in the area Special announcement will be made if Critical Incident Response Plan (CIRP) is activated

Duck and Cover Constant ring of bell or verbal announcement Purpose: Severe inclement weather or National Emergency when it is deemed appropriate

Bomb Threat Announcement: Ringing of the bell or verbal announcement similar to soft lock down Purpose: Searching classrooms and buildings for and possible evacuations of students in response to bomb threat

Procedures: - Absolute silence from students is required - Make sure to take grade book, and lead classes in single file by way of the prescribed route to the designated safety area. (see classroom map) - Teachers wait for room to clear, close doors, leave lights alone, and proceeds with students - Upon reaching safety areas, teacher halts students at least 25 yards from the building - Check roll using grade book to insure all students have reached the safety area - Send student monitor to report to assigned Area Supervisor with card stating room number, that grade book is in teachers possession, and any students missing from the class - Upon the sounding of 2 BELLS (all clear), teacher leads students back to classroom Safe Area Supervisor Field Administration Parking Lot Counselors Special directions will be delivered at if the school will evacuate to an alternate location

Procedures: - Immediately lock your classroom By pulling the magnetic - Keep your class working and do not in any way convey to your students that there is any problem because there isnt - Check for students missing from classroom. Pull in any student in the hallway - Check for students missing from the classroom - Indicate on the back of this card the students who are missing from your class and the students you pulled in from the hallway. Post it visibly in your window - If all students are present, write All Present on the back - If necessary, the building will be evacuated using the fire alarm system. Follow emergency evacuation procedures if instructed to do so. Auditory Impaired Class - A buddy system will be in place the teachers in that hallway will notify the classroom.

Procedures: - Refer to classroom map for location of duck and cover Duck and Cover Position: Students lined up facing the wall in a seated position, with head lowered between knees, hands clasp behind the head, and elbows brought along side the head. Students are to be as close to the wall as possible - Upon the sounding of 2 BELLS (All clear), the teacher will lead the students back to the classroom and resume the days work-at-hand

Procedures: - Keep your class working and do not in any way convey to your students that there is any problem because there is not. - Look in your closet and wastebasket, and scan the aisles and desks - Step into the hall and scan the area in your immediate vicinity - In certain areas of the campus (cafeteria, gym) staff members should be as thorough as time permits without disruption - Restrooms and other areas: Custodians will check and clear all restrooms, outside trash cans, hallway closets, etc. for anything suspicious - Post blank side of green card in window on inside of door when youve checked, and all is clear - Report any suspicious person or object to the office immediately by means of PA system -Do not be alarmed if police cars or fire trucks arrive on campus -- If necessary, the building will be evacuated using the fire alarm system. Follow emergency evacuation procedures if instructed to do so.

Procedures: Students in the cafeteria will move to the football field or alternate route if needed - Absolute silence from students is required - Teachers and students in the classrooms will follow the normal evacuation route for their specific classroom - Students in cafeteria will be guided to the football field where supervisor will line students up appropriately - Teachers and staff members who are on lunch or conference are to assemble with the students and provide direct area supervision as soon as they can possibly get to the football field - Students will organize according to advisory/aim class - During evacuation, students will remain at this station until directed by the administrator in charge - Upon the sounding of 2 BELLS (All clear), the teacher will lead the students back to the classroom/cafeteria and resume the days work-at-hand
