14 3/3/14 Student Objectives/Student Outcomes: - Critically analyze different peoples actions - Identify a persons dharma - Reason constructively Content Standards: - CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.9-10.2 Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of how key events or ideas develop over the course of the text. Materials/Resources/Technology: - Biographies of famous persons - Good/Bad chart Teachers Goals: - Remain unbiased while students come to conclusions about celebritys dharma - Classroom behavior students speak when the time is theirs Time Start of Class (5 -10 minutes) - Reestablishing what dharma is - Giving some examples of people and who their dharma is (students, parents, myself) Introduction of Lesson (5-10 minutes) - The students will then be handed out packet that IDs the person, their alleged dharma, and then good and bad and achieving moksha o We will then walk through the packet - The students will then either be numbered off, or pre-grouped into 5 (1 for each biography) o Explained that the bios are broken down into sections that have a clear good or bad act of karma Lesson Instruction (60 minutes) - Students will then spend he next 50-60 minutes reading the celebrities biography and then filling out the chart with proper evidence

The teacher will be floating around reminding the students to come up with a consensus for each celebrity amongst their group o The teacher will also be there to play Devils Advocate when students claim a side Students will be rotating the biography page in order to complete their chart

Assessment Checks of Understanding - This will be established during the wrap-up when students discuss and fill out the chart as a class Closure Wrap-Up (15-20 minutes) - Students will discuss as a class and come up with a final consensus on the celebrities - Walking through chart step by step Self-Assessment - constructive questioning (flows well)
