Romeo and Juliet Romeo says, Heres to my love. O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die [5.3(87)]. This action of Romeo is his tragic mistake which leads him to his death in William Shakespeares play, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is a young, rich noble who lives in Verona, Italy. Romeo meets a young girl at a party named Juliet and falls in love with her mostly based on her looks. Romeo and Juliet end up getting married but can not keep the marriage because a feud between their families.Romeo and Juliet marry after a day, and then Romeo kills Juliets cousin Tybalt and gets himself banished from Verona. Some people say that Romeo is not a tragic hero. But, others think that Romeo and Juliet form one tragic hero. Through his use of victory in defeat, irresponsible impulsiveness, and an eye- opening message, Shakespeare shows that Romeo is a true tragic hero who is responsible for his own demise in Romeo and Juliet. Romeos death but end of the feud shows that he experiences victory in defeat, which shows that he is a tragic hero. Victory in defeat is when the hero loses, but the reader/society somehow wins at the same time. When he thinks that Juliet is dead, Romeo cries next to her and says, Heres to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die*5.3(87)+. Romeo toasts to Juliet, drinks the poison and says the apothecary was honest; the drugs are working quickly so he will kiss Juliet and then die. Romeo is defeated because he dies even though he was not supposed too. If Romeo would have checked with someone for example, Friar Lawrence he could have told Romeo that Juliet was not dead. When Romeo and Juliet are dead, Capulet and Montague finally make peace between their families. Capulet turns to Montagues and says, "O brother Montague, give me thy hand: This is my daughters jointive for no more can I demand" [5.3(92)]. Capulet asks Montague for his hand so they can shake hands, to show that they will have peace now. When Capulet says, This is my daughters jointive for no more can demand". Capulet is saying that a handshake is the best he can offer him. The handshake shows that the Capulets and the Montagues will no longer have a feud and will be at peace because

Romeo and Juliet are dead now. This is a victory for the families because even though Romeo and Juliet are dead now, they will be at peaceThe handshake shows that the Capulets and the Montagues will no longer have a feud and will be at peace because Romeo and Juliet are dead now. This is a victory for the families because even though Romeo and Juliet are dead now, they will be at peace.Romeo loses when he drinks the poison and dies, but the families benefit from it because Capulet and Montague do not have a feud anymore. This proves that Romeos death but the end of the feud shows that he experiences victory in defeat, which shows that he is a tragic hero. Romeos actions and death show that impulsiveness is his tragic flaw, which proves that he is a tragic hero. A tragic flaw is when you have excessive pride. When Romeo saw Juliet at the party across the room, he claims that he fell in love. Romeo says, "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight! I never saw beauty till this night"[1.5(22)].Romeo is asking himself is he has ever been in love before, which he hasn't. He also says that he has never seen true beauty until he saw Juliet. This quote shows that Romeo is being impulsive. Romeo falls in love at first sight. When Romeo sees that Juliet is lying on the bed with her eyes closed, Romeo automatically assumes that she is dead. Romeo then drinks poison so he can die. But before he does he says, "Here's to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die" [5.3(87)].Romeo toasts to Juliet, drinks the poison and says the apothecary was honest; the drugs are working quickly so he will kiss Juliet and then die. Romeo again, is being impulsive. Romeo does not bother to check with anyone about what happened to Juliet. Instead, Romeo just kills himself. Romeos actions and death show that he is impulsive. Romeo falls in love right when he sees Juliet and he drinks the poison when he thinks that Juliet is dead. This proves that Romeos actions and death shows that he is impulsive which shows that he is a tragic hero. Romeos actions cause the reader to learn an eye-opening message, which shows that he is a tragic hero. An eye-opening message is when the audience has an eye-opening experience by watching the tragic heros tragic story unfold, learning a theme in the process. When Romeo kills Tybalt he says, "O, I am fortune's fool!"[3.1(47)]. Romeo is saying that he is fates puppet. Romeo regrets giving control of his life to fate since it led him to kill Tybalt, Juliet's cousin. Romeo shows the audience an eye-opening message because of his actions. Romeo ends up killing Tybalt because he gave control of his life to fate. When Romeo sees Juliet lying in bed asleep, he says "O, here will I set up my everlasting rest and shake the yoke of inauspicious stars from this world-wearied flesh"[5.3(5)]. Romeo is saying that he will stay with Juliet forever and forget about everything that made him get in trouble. This shows that Romeo is willing to stay with Juliet no matter what happens. He causes the readers to have an eye-opening message

when he kills Tybalt. Romeo kills Tybalt because he killed Mercutio, Romeos best friend. Romeo then regrets giving fate control of his life because he gets himself banished from Verona and he can not go back to see Juliet. This causes the reader to learn an eye-opening message which shows that Romeo is a tragic hero. Romeos tragic flaw is that he is too impulsive. His tragic flaw is what led to his tragic mistake that leads him to his death in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is ultimately responsible for his own death.Romeo teaches us that being too impulsive can lead to bad things just how it led him to his death.
