E&F (Engineering and Facility)- API:

It deals with putting up, upgrading and renovating the facilities at various locations for API business. What it does? A. Planning and execution of API Projects takes care of budget, timeline, regulation and EHS incidents B. Developing new API facilities and plants for a. Capacity Enhancement b. Commercial Production c. Major Modification Focus: 1. Cost viability. 2. Optimum time. 3. Quality, and 4. Consistency, in products. Projects: 1. Civil construction- buildings. 2. Equipment. 3. Process/ utility piping. 4. Electrical power supply. 5. Instrumentation. Standardization procedure enabled this department to gain more hold on the above points. They have their own software system which allows user to choose from the various predefined equipment specifications. Purchase department in API E&F: BOM (bill of material) - This consists of what all quantities are to be procured from the market.

Minimum three offers (3 vendors) are required to select for the e-bidding auction to get the best possible (lowest) rate from a vendor. QCF is made, which contains the details of item, vendors, prices etc. (the details of this are more illustrated in Purchase department section). FOR (free on rail) details are given in bill, which denotes the location of plant upto which vendor will pay for transportation of the required equipment, otherwise EXWorks would be written instead of FOR if the company is going to pay for transportation.

Taxes inclusion: 1. LST (local sales tax or VAT). 2. CST (central sales tax). 3. Excise. 4. Service tax. The mechanical section of E&F- API looks after HVAC systems like Air Handling Units (AHUs), High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPAs), Reverse Laminar Air Flow (RLAFs); and fire hydrant systems. These are done keeping various factors such as Relative Humidity, particle count etc. in consideration. This department also takes care of setting up various utilities inside the plant that is going to be set up. Commissioning includes IQ (installation qualification) and OQ (operational qualification) while validation includes the PQ (performance qualification).
