Justification Statement for the Idaho Teaching Standards This is an example of a Frequency Count that I created in my FCS 235,

Principles and Methods of Observing Child Development class. This Frequency Count demonstrates socialemotional, development of three children over a span of a half hour. When a child exhibited empathy, generosity, cooperation, and caregiving it was tallied. These examples can be later combined with other social-emotional development observations to complete an overall assessment. This demonstrates how I meet Idaho Standards for Blended Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Teachers: Standard 1: Assessment of Student Learning Knowledge 7: The educator understands that young children are constructing a sense of self, expressing wants and needs, and understanding social interactions that enable them to be involved in friendships, cooperation, and effective conflict resolutions.

G1 interacts often with children in her classroom. G1 often interacts with G3 and G4. She

interacts with these two other children when sitting at the table for snack time and while playing out on the outdoor playground. G1 initiates play with these two children specifically (G3 and G4) by engaging in conversations at the snack table. For example during snack time G3 and G4 were engaged in a conversation discussing their schedules for the rest of the day, G1 engaged in the conversation by saying, G3 you have dance, G1 said pointing at G3 with her arm fully extended out in front of her pointing with her index finger. G1 said, You have dance today cause I have dance too (Running Record 10/28/2013). G1 allows other children to engage with her, for example after snack time the children get a few minutes of free time, G1 was flipping through the pages of the book, Picking Apples and Pumpkins, in the teachers circle chair. G1 was holding the book out in front of her with the pictures facing the children sitting on the carpet in front of her; she turned to B3 and said Look Im reading like Teacher. B3 walked to G1s side to look at the book as well. G1 placed the book in her lap so B3 and herself could look at the book flipping through the pages from right to left.
