To Whom It May Concern, It is my pleasure to recommend Tatissa Zunguze for admission to your institution. I have known Tatissa for 2 years as her school counselor at the Academy for Math, Engineering and Science (AMES) in Salt Lake City, Utah. AMES is an early college high school, one of only 6 in Utah, which puts great emphasis on academic rigor and college preparation. A majority of our classes are Honors or AP classes and we are partnered with the University of Utah such that our students have the opportunity to take University classes in the high school setting. The model AMES student is one that takes advantage of our rigorous courses, builds strong relationships with faculty and students, and recognizes the benefits of learning and its connection to community involvement. Tatissa is the model student. She has been successful in 7 Advanced Placement courses, 3 Honors science courses, and 2 University of Utah courses. She has been an active member of several school organizations including: Interact Club, FIRST Robotics as the Finance Team Lead, Student Government, and Peer Tutors. As a senior, she founded a school improvement club dubbed The Pod Squad which is responsible for maintaining and updating the schools common areas. Tatissa completed her internship by volunteering at the Maliheh Free Clinic in Salt Lake City. I do not remember the exact moment when I first met Tatissa but she has such a presence here at AMES it is as if I have always known her. Tatissa is bright, friendly and outgoing and her positive energy is infectious. When I asked Tatissa what it would mean to her to be accepted into her top school she said, It would mean I am receiving the best education possible in the best environment possible. Indeed, Tatissa has spent months, even years, researching, exploring and visiting those schools at which she feels she will gain the most from attending. But admission to your institution would change not just her life, but the lives of all the people she meets and works with along the way. Her acceptance would also mean that your school will gain an outstanding student who will most certainly leave a lasting impression on you and your program. Tatissa is one of those students that I look forward to reconnecting with in the future so I can see how far she has gone and how much she has accomplished. Quirky, dedicated, diplomatic, and conscientious, Tatissa possesses all the qualities and abilities to not only succeed in college but to truly shine. She has my highest recommendation.
