MULTIMEDIA PARTICIPATION PROJECT PRESENTATION

Abigail Malczewski and Jenna Murphy

THANKSGIVING

Why did we choose this topic?

It was a good opportunity to teach the students about misconceptions, multiple perspectives, and past versus present.

Why is it important to teach Thanksgiving from an information standpoint?

There are many stereotypes associated with the Thanksgiving holiday, therefore it is important to teach it from an informational standpoint to avoid passing these stereotypes on to young learners.

Childrens Literature - Used Read Alouds in 4 out of 6 lessons - Fiction and Non-fiction Technology -We wanted to incorporate the Interactive White Board but it was not working

Video -We would have liked to incorporate videos about the lives of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag, but there was nowhere to play videos.

Music -We would have liked to have taught the students a song about Thanksgiving but we did not have the time.

CONCLUSION

What did we learn?

The importance of differentiation. Not all students learn the same. Effective communication is key for any type of collaboration. Make sure to always use any resources that are available to you. It is important to be flexible. Try not to cram too much information into one lesson. It is important to constantly change activities to keep the students interest, especially with younger learners.
