Blaschke examined how field orientation occurs naturally in a separately excited dc motor. The armature and field fluxes are always perpendicular to each other in the dc motor. In an induction machine, a similar condition can be created with appropriate control of stator currents in the synchronously rotating frame of reference. Pg 36
