Minister of National Security meets with the IRO
26th February 2014 Minister of National Security Senator the Honorable Honourable Gary Griffith met today with members of the Inter Religious Organization at the Ministry of National Security, 31-33 Abercromby Street. Matters discussed at the meeting were as follows: The current Crime situation Understanding how Religion can play a part in helping to reduce the crime situation and assisting in the socialization process. The lack of proper parenting in society The introduction of a National Day of Prayer as an annual celebration

Speaking to the representatives of the various religious organizations in Trinidad & Tobago, Minister Griffith pointed to the nature of the murders currently being committed in the island and that these murders were being carried out without the Fear of God or Retribution Minister Griffith emphasized that the current crime situation is as a result of a small percentage of the population who have turned away from religion or in the belief of a Higher Being and encouraged the IRO to have their membership work with these individuals to encourage them to give up their life of crime and turn back to a life of mutual respect and respect for their fellow man.
