Lesson Plan November 15

Enhance critical thinking through the use of reflective free writes. Engage students with the text in a fun atmosphere.

Introduction: 5mins Welcome students, pick up questions from yesterday, Activating: 10mins Drama activity called I cant believe its not butter. The purpose of doing this activity is to allow students the opportunity to express themselves in front of the class and build their confidence in speaking. Acquire: 20-25mins We will read through chapter 3 and 4 together. I will stop a couple times to pose certain chapter questions. As soon as the reading is completed, the students will have 5mins for a free write about what they think about todays reading as well as 2mins to share it with a partner. (What is your reaction to what we have read today?) Apply: 20-25mins Tableau. Students will work in groups of 3,4,or 5 and re-enact a scene in which we just read. This breaks down into 5min explanation, 10mins to create the scene and 5mins to watch them. There will be an opportunity for a 5min free write after their presentations. (What do you like or dislike about this activity? Why did you choose to do the scene you chose?)

Chapter 4 Back to the Round

1. What is the usual punishment for an enemy sniper? What do you think about this? 2. Discuss your reaction to the death of Brown.
