Conjunctions are color-coded brown.


Conjunctions can make subjects, predicates, and sentences compound. Subject(s) who or what the sentence is about

Predicate(s) official name for the verb, or action of the sentence

Well learn about compound subjects, predicates, and sentences more in depth later.
Lets focus first on our conjunction words.

Conjunctions can also make compound predicates. Remember, predicate is the fancy way to say verb, or the action of a sentence, these are orange.

A compound sentence is made up of two simple sentences. The simple sentences are joined by a COMMA and a connecting word like and, or, or but.
The thing to remember about a compound sentence is that it has 2 EQUAL parts.

This is a compound predicate, not a compound sentence. A compound predicate has 2 or more verbs joined together with a conjunction.
