I was born December 19, 1934 in Jalgaon Maharashtra, India Makes me 79 now. My early education was from RR Vidyalaya Jalgaon where I grew up. I did get my Master degree from Mooljee Jetha College, Jalgaon in Political Science and Economics I also obtained my bachelors of Law from the Government Law College in Bombay, Mumbai. I kept my studies ongoing in Law though I had my MLA A side note; I loved sports in college but table tennis was my favorite. I had several shields from inter-collegiate tournaments I am relatively healthy, I am only about 5 foot tall and as you can see I wear glasses. I have a wonderful husband and 2 grown children. I am most known as President Patil because I held the prestigious but ceremonial office as first woman President of India from 2007 to 2012. After college I did practice law at the Jalgaon District Court, I did support one of my causes uplifting poor women.

My Political Career After a few years I decided to put my political science degree mixed with my Law degree and at age 27 in 1962 I started in politics. I successfully was elected to the Mahrashtra State Legislature. After that I was elected 4 consecutive times as MLA till 1985. From 1985 till 1990 I served as a member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. In 1991 I left the upper house and was elected to represent Amravati in the Lo Sabha or lower house. After my 5 year term I retired. I was too restless and in 2004 I was appointed as governor of Northwester state of Rajasthan. I have long established a relationship with the Gandhi family and Sonia Gandhi, as Congress Party Leader, nominated me for President in 2007. Even though my role was ceremonial I had initiatives.

What I did do and accomplish supports my initiatives and my influence as President I established hostels for working women I set up and Engineering College for rural youth I set up a Shram Sadhana Trust for women welfare. I had an Industrial training school built for visually handicapped children I had set up schools for poor children I opened a Farmers Training Center in Amravati, Maharashtra. I also organized music, computer and sewing classes for poor women.
