In my constant search for webcast and video modeling ELL best practices, I came across this series. The video series was created by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Office of English Language Programs in Washington D.C. Someone from the University of Oregon posted the entire series on YouTube. It is a wonderful series that shows multiple approaches of teaching ELLs in a variety of class settings. I assigned module ten as part of your Reading Assignment. Approach these videos with a sincere effort to understand the approaches educators take, the different educational styles, and examples of teaching. They capture ESL best practices in a critical framework among several ages of learners. Pay close attention to all of the age groups presented. Look for techniques and methods that are applicable regardless of the age. They can be scaled. You can change the task, pacing, or combination. Think outside the box. The entire video series is about 3 hours long. Each module is an average of 14 minutes in length.
