3rd Grade Researched Based Instruction Mary Morem The type of instruction is practice of repeated reading of informational texts.

. Research shows again and again how important repeated reading is. The theory goes along with READ NATURALLY. We read the piece as a small group then they practice reading aloud to a partner three more times and finally out loud to me. They also have 5 comprehension skill questions to answer about the selection. These are to be answered and compare the results with a peer before they meet with me. These are also leveled pieces. I have 9 different levels of selections each week if needed. (Differentiated instruction) Each week I adjust based on their performance, which I record. They have showed great strides. In my NWEA data all of my students grew in the informational text portion of the test. I only had one out of my 19 who did not. The cool thing is that my really high kids grew a ton even though that was not the intended target.
