What is poetry?

A poem is a collection of words that express an idea or feelings, using a pattern.

A poem in which the fist letters of each line spell out a word or phrase.

A form of Japanese poetry, focusing on nature


Haiku consists of 3 lines and 17 syllables

Line 1 5 syllables Line 2 7 syllables Line 3 5 syllables

Poems written using a predictable pattern of words ending in the same sound

My favorite thing to do is ride my bike,
After that I like to hike.

Example of a Triplet
I have a little dog named Ranger,
He is friendly to me but not a stranger, I want to always keep him safe from danger.

Staring up into the dark of night,
I see quite an amazing sight, Nothing to cause me fear or fright,

Just a star sparkling bright.
